Automatic and Standards

Automatic transmission fluid lubricates, cools and cleans internal transmission parts. Manual transmissions also contain fluid to lubricate the gears. Many manufacturers recommend that transmission fluid be replaced periodically. Our technicians can advise you about the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended interval can help prevent premature wear, damage to the transmission and costly repairs.

Clutches

Clutches, like so many other parts in a vehicle, wear out over time. The rate of clutch wear depends on several factors, most prevalently your personal driving style, terrain, and weather conditions. As your vehicle’s clutch nears the end of its life, replacing it sooner rather than later is your best option in terms of protecting yourself and others. Our experienced technicians can review and diagnose any clutch repair or replacement issue in the early stages to save you the most money possible and get your vehicle back to top performance.

Differentials

We offer differential repair and maintenance, whether you have a front-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicles. Because all the power of the engine is transferred through the various differentials, you can imagine that they are very strong and are built last a long time. That’s why it’s important to keep your differential properly lubricated. Differential fluid cools and protects the gears. Our service technicians will check differential fluid level and top it off if necessary. With low fluid, the differential will run too hot and wear prematurely. We will also inspect the u-joints which connect your drive shaft to the differential and may recommend service. Some u-joints can be lubricated as part of a routine lube, oil and filter change as well.

CV joints and axles

If your car’s CV joints or boots need to be serviced, you may want to consider having the service performed sooner rather than later to avoid further damage to your vehicle. When CV joints fail, they can’t be repaired. They need to be replaced. The CV joint is sealed and protected by a rubber CV boot that keeps the grease in the joint and contaminants, such as dirt and water, out. Our service covers the replacement of damaged or worn axles and axle seals.

Drive axles

Axles are extremely important to your car. Drive axles are powered by the engine. Typically found in front wheel drive vehicles, a drive axle is split between two half axles with differential and universal joints between them. Each half axle connects to the wheel by a third joint—the constant velocity (CV) joint—that allows the wheels to move freely. An easy way for you to tell if you need to see us for axle repair is to go out to a large space (such as a parking lot), and slowly drive in tight circles. If you hear a clicking or cracking noise, you have a worn joint, and it must be repaired immediately. Our technicians will regularly inspect your drive axles.

4×4’s and transfer cases

The 4×4 system includes differentials and sometimes a transfer case, which all generate power to the wheels. The differential works with your transmission to deliver power from the engine to the axle that turns your wheels. Using a series of gears, the differential allows the wheels to turn at different speeds, enabling corner turning with improved traction. High operating temperatures can cause the differential fluid to break down. If the differential gears start to grind together, continued driving can cause expensive damage. Lubricating fluid in the transfer case helps keep gears cool and turning smoothly. Our technicians can tell you when the fluid in the various drivetrain components in your vehicle need to be replaced to help prevent premature wear and damage and extends the life of your vehicle.
